A New Year and a tribute

I apologize for my long absence. The year gone by was not a kind one. I spent a good deal of the year caring for my sister, who lost her battle with breast cancer in September. Three weeks later I had to say goodbye to my Golden Retriever, Sela, who also suffered from cancer.
My friends Patty and Catherine also lost their battles with cancer this year. They were both exceptional women with enormous spirits and a love for animals of all kinds. There just really aren't words to fully describe either of them, but their memories are dear in my heart.
It was Catherine to whom I owe my use of the word "entropy." She was fascinated by both the word and it's meaning, and so I borrowed it for the name of this blog. What more appropriate word could there be for a home that was allowed to gradually decline into disorder for so many decades?
Although my attentions were focused elsewhere for much of 2016, we continued steady progress on the house. In this New Year I will do my best to catch up on the tales of our progress. Work on the house is good therapy for me and will help me to heal.
